2011 Kapiti to Mainland Swim
The 2011 Kapiti to Mainland swim will take place on Saturday 12 March 2011 with reserve date of 26 March (if bad conditions on 12th). Entry forms will likely be available in November.
2010 Results
The 2010 Kapiti to Mainland swim took place on the 6th February in near perfect sea conditions.
The 2010 winner was Casey Glover in another record breaking time of 1:07:08:53. In second place and the first woman home was Stephanie Bennington doing a 22 minute PB on her 2009 time and a new Women’s record (Time 1hr 23. 33.99 seconds) Third place went to Raumati Swimming Club’s 15 year old Adam Dyhrberg in his first long distance swim, in 1hour 32 mins.

Because of the strong tides and open sea swimming conditions there are strict entry and time conditions that swimmers must adhere too. These include a medical check on the morning of the race. (A doctor is provided and this is covered in the entry fee)
The kapiti to mainland swim began in 1963 and has historically always been organised by the Raumati Swimming Club. In recent years Paul Matson has taken over the major organisational role of the event. For further information contact secretary@raumatiswimming.co.nz
2009 Results
Winner of the 2009 swim was Stephanie Bennington (below) in time of 1hr 57mins. 
Stephanie was also the youngest swimmer and is from Wellington.
Second was Andrew Bond from Orewa in time of 2hrs 43mins. Andrew was also first male veteran (over 35).
Third was Emily Soper of Lower Hutt in time of 2hr 48mins.
Hana Wolzak was the first female veteran and 6th overall.
The sea conditions made this a difficult swim this year. A big high tide and a southerly wind lead most swimmers a lot further north than usual meaning they swum a lot further than the 5.5km, that is the point to point distance. Stephanie’s winning time the slowest since 1981 and almost 20 minutes slower than her 3rd place time last year. Ten of the 11 starters completed the swim which was good considering the sea conditions. All the swimmers considered the swim exciting and challenging.
