XLR8 programme

XLR8 is a motivational programme set up by Swimming New Zealand where all competitive swimmers under 14 years, earn points and are ranked nationally across a combination of events. To take advantage of this programme you should join Take Your Marks. Swimmers are picked for SNZ camps with these points. There is a combination of events that must be swum to earn these points and achieve a national ranking. The following information has been copied from XLR8 frequently asked questions on the TYM website:

Why don’t my results appear in the XLR8 rankings? This could be for a number of reasons: 1) You haven’t swum the 4 event combination required for an XLR8 ranking.  To appear in the rankings for the March/April period for example, you must have swum the 4 required events at meets held in March or April.

2) The XLR8 rankings are based on your SNZ registration and not on your name. This means that if you have swum at meets using different registrations then XLR8 rankings will be computed for each of those registrations. For this reason it is very important that your meet entry details are correct.

3) Meets that you have swum at do not appear in the NZ Meet Results Database. Please contact the meet organiser and ask them to send the results to us at Take Your Marks. s.

Short Course and Long Course

Swim Meets are held in 50 metre pools or 25 metre pools. When you swim a time in a 50 metre pool and then swim in a Meet in a 25 metre pool the time will be converted from a long course time to a short course time. (and vice versa). See below for conversion table.
